Ninety Years of First Aid and Lifesaving Impact
For ninety years, the South African First Aid League (SAFAL) has been equipping communities with lifesaving skills, knowledge, and confidence to act in an emergency. From schools and universities to small businesses, parents, and individuals, our mission has remained clear. To build a nation where everyone has the power to save a life.
How It All Started: A Legacy of Empowerment
In April 1935, a group of dedicated individuals recognised the urgent need to equip South Africans with first aid skills that could mean the difference between life and death. From those early days, SAFAL has grown into a respected first aid training provider, reaching thousands of people every year.
Our Impact Over the Years
· Thousands of students and teachers were trained in first aid to make schools safer.
· Parents and caregivers were empowered to respond to household emergencies.
· Businesses and employees were equipped to handle workplace injuries.
· Community members trained to provide immediate assistance in public emergencies.
Why First Aid Training Remains Essential
Emergencies can occur at any time and in any place. Whether it is a child choking at home, a colleague suffering a heart attack at work, or an athlete sustaining an injury on the field, knowing what to do in those critical moments can save a life.
Join Us in Celebrating Ninety Years of First Aid
This milestone is about all of us. Every student who has learned CPR, every teacher who has stepped in to help, every parent who has saved a child from choking, and every business that has made workplace safety a priority. SAFAL’s impact is only possible because of the people we have trained and those who continue to support our mission.
